ABC Adult School administers the following Title IV programs/funds: Federal Pell Grant – This is gift aid and does not require repayment You can determine your eligibility for a Pell Grant by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application can be found online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. We encourage all students to start the financial aid process as early as possible prior to registration. It can take 4-8 weeks from the time all required applications and documentation are submitted for a student’s financial aid to be packaged and scheduled for disbursement. To help you through the process, step-by-step instructions are provided below.
STEP 1: COMPLETE A FAFSA ONLINE – Federal Student Aid is an office of the U.S. Department of Education that manages and regulates Title IV funds of the Higher Education Act (HEA) of 1965. To be considered for federal aid, students need to complete a Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Step-by-step instructions are provided below.
- Go to www.FAFSA.ed.gov
- Click on “Start A New FAFSA”
- Enter your personal information
- Click on “2018-2019” tab for the 2018-2019 academic year
- Click on “Start New FAFSA” or “FAFSA Renewal”
- Enter the information requested using your 2016 Federal Taxes
- NOTE: When asked for a school code, enter “XXXXXX” for ABC Adult School
- E-Sign your FAFSA using your FAFSA ID Number
NOTE: If you are unable to upload your tax information into your FAFSA using the embedded IRS retrieval tool, you will need to request a Return TAX TRANSCRIPT for 2016 from the Internal Revenue Service (http://www.irs.gov/individuals/order-a-transcript) Once you have completed your FAFSA, a summary/confirmation report will be generated and emailed to you. Please keep a copy for your records.
STEP 2: PROCEED TO ADMISSION PROCESS Select a program Register at the site the program is offered, completing the appropriate paperwork Review your payment options Contact the Financial Aid Counselor (phone: 562-229-7960) for additional information or assistance with the Financial Aid process.
