He believes, "Everyone is entitled to a quality education. And even though education is expensive, the cost of not going to school is even greater." Christopher Satoru Kowalchuk but prefers to be called "Chris". He was born and raised in the Los Angeles area, but spent summers in the Japanese countryside as a child and also lived in Tokyo for 6 years as an adult. Because of these experiences, he knows firsthand the difficulties of living in a new country. Opening a bank account, talking to customer service on the phone, going to the doctor ... these were all very stressful situations! But by studying Japanese a lot in his free time, he was able to feel comfortable living in a foreign country. His goal as an ESL teacher is to help English Learners in the United States feel comfortable here. Please join him and fellow students in learning English so you can achieve your goals and feel good living in this country.
