Parent Involvement -

Learn, understand and grow with your child!
The Parent Education Program is based on the premise that learning is a natural on-going process. Classes are designed to train parents to create supportive and positive learning environments for
their children that will stimulate their physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth. This is done through participation,
observation and discussion. The curriculum is a readiness program that includes pre-reading, math concepts, science, music,
motor skill development in addition to various parenting topics. Children and parents learn together.
Registration
Our Parent Education Classes are now by semester, not by quarter.
The Fall semester is September 12th through February 3rd and the
Spring semester is February 6th through June 15th.
Due to limited enrollment, registration is on a first come, first served basis.
Open registration begins January 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 am at the Cabrillo Lane Education Center, 20122 Cabrillo Lane, Cerritos.
Choose your classes carefully! There will be a charge of $5 to transfer or $10 processing fee to drop before the first day of class. No refunds will be given after the first class meeting.
The adult is the student so the person that will be bringing the child is the one that should be enrolled.
Requirements for Registration
Children MUST meet the age requirement of the class. Older or younger children are only allowed in Sibling classes.
Second adult from the same family must register in the office in order not to pay the materials fees. FEE FOR THE SECOND ADULT WILL BE $35 PER SEMESTER.
Immunization
Proof of current immunizations is required before a child may attend a Parent Education class. The immunizations required for school enrollment: DPT or DT, MMR, Hepatitis B, Hib and Varicella. Adult and child must have a current tuberculosis clearance.
Registration Fee
2 - hour class $50 + $15 material fee = $65 per Semester (Science Class)
3 - hour class $70 + $5 material fee = $75 per Semester
4 - hour class $90 + $10 material fee = $100 per Semester
6 - hour class $140 + $10 material fee = $150 per Semester
9 - hour class $210 + $15 material fee = $225 per Semester
2 - hour per week Fee Based MATH CLASS (5 weeks) $40 + $10 material fee = $50
NOTE: $5 - $15 material fee is per child. Additional fee for an extra child in the sibling class will be collected in class on the first day.
Every adult must pay to be a student in the class. There are no family discounts.

FAMILY FUNDAMENTALS
Program emphasizes multi-cultural activities with a focus on the family in addition to our extensive readiness program, as described above.
SCIENCE CLASS FOR THE PRESCHOOLER
Science through Kitchen Chemistry and Crazy Concoctions! We will use science processing skills, such as observation, experimentation, prediction, classification and recording to investigate and respond to open ended and hands-on projects.
TEACHING MATH THROUGH THE ARTS - “RIGHT BRAIN, LEFT BRAIN”
This fee-based class (see also here) addresses math as a part of everyday life. The parents and children will study many math concepts using hands-on creative activities. The parent and child will explore and discover early math concepts that are the foundation for higher math.
This is a 5 week class which starts March 1, 2012 and ends March 29, 2012. Class meetings dates are 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22 and 3/29. Registration for this class must be completed by February 9, 2012. A minimum of 20 students is required.
EVENING SCHEDULE OF CLASS
Evening classes for working parents who wish to participate with their children.

BUILDING YOUR CHILD'S COMMUNICATION
A class for children with communication delays, 18-36 months, and their parents residing in ABCUSD. Taught by a speech language pathologist. Enrollment and payment will be done in the classroom. For more information call (562) 229-7762. Fee: $10 for every 1½ hour class attended.
